Counseling and Training Internship
JOB SUMMARY
The Counseling and Training internship is an opportunity to work alongside our Haitian mental health workers and counselors providing direct services to our beneficiaries, including individuals, families, orphanages, schools, hospitals, and nursing homes . This person will be involved in helping expand Espere’s mission to increase mental health awareness, education, and counseling support programs in the communities we serve.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The Counseling and Training Intern will be directly involved with implementing our mental health and psychosocial support(MHPSS) programming, as well as facilitate training opportunities for the Espere staff and other community groups. The responsibilities for this internship may include:

Co-facilitate MHPSS-related support groups and other therapeutic interventions for children, teens, and adults.

Work with the Espere clinical team to develop and implement programs designed to reach specific underserved populations.

Develop training materials and lead trainings on MHPSS-related topics for the Espere team and community groups to build capacity and increase mental health awareness and education.

Qualifications:

University-level students or professionals in the Psychology or Social Work fields.

Creative, flexible, and comfortable working in a developing country with limited resources.

Able to be self-directed as well as work in a team environment.

Willing to respectfully engage in the culture, language, and the non-Western approaches to mental health understanding and support.
